People can take part in many ways in politics. You may either write or work for a candidate or political party as your representative or senator. They can make presentations or call the police to complain about the neighbor's dog to their local school board or community council. Partly because of our federalism, citizens at federal, municipal and local levels have many opportunities to engage in our democracy.

Females had been under-represented at the voting stands for many years, but these were at least the same proportion as men in recent elections. Yes, women were significantly higher than men in 1992 and 1996.
