Quipu is a data logging system used in South America.

Explanation:

This is a data logging system used before the arrival of Europeans. Khipu consists of several pieces of sparrows, sometimes up to 2,000, which hang on a piece of rope, typically made of llama or alpaca hair, with knots of individual styles and in specific locations. Even the string itself can be of different colours, set on a number 10 basis, which creates a highly sophisticated data storage system.

These records are thought to have been used to record various things needed to manage a country, from tax collected to a military organization. The disadvantage of this system is that over time, the need to show more units and information was created, and the capacity of this system was 1500 units. Quipu is still used today in some villages in Peru but for ritual purposes.
