Why was the russian army near collapse by 1916?

There were a wide variety of reasons for why the army was near collapse in 1916, but essentially they had run out of crucial supplies such as ammunition and uniform, and were not able to acquire more due to allied control over Europe. The first world war had truly taken its toll on the Russian army.
