in any images that involve pictures where children can be identified, it is vital that they only be used if you have a signed permission slip from the child’s parents or guardians. alternatively, consider taking pictures of the set-up activity areas with no children present.
suggested format for portfolio
your portfolio should be presented electronically. it is suggested that you use powerpoint for your portfolio, but this is not a requirement.
portfolio
you must collect and present the following evidence in a portfolio:
1. a statement or image explaining which approved learning framework is being implemented in your centre.
2. three examples of times or ways that you have reflected on practice with your supervisor and/or others. this might be presented as questions that you asked a supervisor or a discussion that you had after being involved in a learning experience talking about what you did well and what you might improve on next time. this may also be presented in a reflection journal.
3. reviewed and reflected on the organisation’s practices, policies and procedures for programming. you can present your conversation in a list of questions you asked or by a voice recording of your conversation. ( provide a copy of this policy. if no policy is available, locate one online and discuss how it could be implemented in the centre.)
4. ensure all tasks completed in your log book that required documented evidence must be uploaded within this portfolio.
the documents attached should consist of:
• documented findings demonstrating how for the being belonging, being and becoming are being put into practice in your centre. this could be demonstrated via photos, copies of polices or newsletters etc. becoming and belonging framework. alternatively, this can be presented in a journal with each principle listed and how the centre has covered this.
• documented findings on how the centre applies all 5 education and care framework principles during practice. this could be demonstrated via photos, copies of polices or newsletters etc. alternatively, this can be presented in a journal with each principle listed and how the centre has covered this.
o the principles are:
1. secure, respectful and reciprocal relationships.
2. partnerships
3. high expectations and equity.
4. respect for diversity.
5. ongoing learning and reflective practice.
• a copy of a developed program you assisted to implemented into the classroom. note the program must have an activity planned for each day and each activity in the program must have at least one learning outcome from the education and care framework (eylf or mtop) linked to it. parent input should also be noted and shown in the program..
• observation of a large group of children - this must be presented formally in an observation template. this template should include the following:
o names of the children
o date
o observer
o time of observation
o length of observation: i. e. 20 minutes.
o the observation in detail.
o the learning outcomes linked to the observation.
note: educational opportunities that you observe may be either planned or spontaneous.
suggested portfolio evidence
some examples of evidence that you can put in your portfolio include:
• photographs with captions: a few sentences explaining what is shown in the picture and its relevance to the assignment.
• copies of activity plans designed either by you or by a supervisor that were implemented in the service. these may be scanned into your computer as image files, or you may choose to take a clear photograph of the plan and insert it into your portfolio that way.
• written descriptions of what was observed, said or discussed.
