Christopher Columbus used his compass and map to help him navigate through his voyages as he searched for different places. With his navigation system, he was able to sail to many places, to find the right directions and it also helped him to find shortcuts to his destinations.  

Without the compass, some journeys would have been longer and he would have never reached some destinations. For a man who lived in that era, he was a bright man who impacted the world and also achieved more from the little tools or resources he had.
