Hydraulic mining is defined as a mining technique where the high-pressure water jet is used for the purpose of excavation, in order to obtain economic minerals. It is used in many places but it also has some disadvantages as it affects the environment.

It is used in many large mining operations, as it requires less manpower and completes the task by consuming a lesser amount of time. The force exerted by the water is so high that it disintegrates the rocks in the mining sites, eroding the unwanted materials and making easy for excavation. Thus, the use of hydraulic mining has helped in obtaining the minerals from the surface and sub-surface at a faster rate.
