The United States followed a policy of isolationism, for the citizens of the US believed that they should not be affected by Europe if they do not meddle in Europe's affairs. It is a classic case of "You do you, leave us alone", and it worked throughout the years even through World War I. Because of this venture, the US was able to grow economically, militarily, and strategically, and play key roles that helped the state propel and become the world power we know today.
