What i learned in this excerpt was that the men could easily buy their kids back. could be a free slave unless seen on the wrong side of the country and be recaptured. i also learned that a slave being property, can hold no property. it made me upset that slaves yet could not have property, also known as children. the thought of slavery makes my blood boil. back then all people should have been treated the same way. it shouldn't matter the color of your skin is. the thought of those mothers and fathers as slaves could not have property makes me sad. when i think about slavery i think that they should have been able to stand up for themselves.
