Confucius was a 6th century Chinese philosopher who's ideas have influenced Chinese culture through Confucianism for thousands of years. Confucianism helped bring stability to China after many changes from dynasty to dynasty, creating a more structured society. In this structured society, work and effort given by the social class became a core component of the social structure. However, the beliefs of Confucianism reaffirmed the claims and ideas that women were not as wise or powerful as men, making them subordinate in the religion. In response, many women would practice gruesome procedures such as foot binding to attempt to claim social status.  Throughout the years, Confucianism has been incorporated into Chinese culture, teaching the wisdom of life, family, and governance. Confucianism also has influenced modern education heavily as Confucius emphasized the importance of education as one of the basic values of Chinese people.
