The city was built far from a river or navigable waters compared to other early colonial settlements, that normally were located next to the Hydric resources (oceans or rivers)

Some natural springs, creeks and similar kind of inflowing, were located near Lexington, however navigable waters, as rivers or the ocean, were  far from the territory

The reason why the new settlers taken the ¨risk¨ to build Lexington in this location, was for the incredibly fertile soil and diverse wildlife, thanks to the good conditions of the land,  farming became the main economic activity, giving good reputation to Lexington, that was known for its economic  success.
