Shays rebellion was a series of violent attacks on the government buildings in Massachusetts. It lasted from 1786 till 1787. Most of the rebels were war veterans who were engaged in farming. They opposed the state's economic policies and taxes that was causing poverty and property foreclosures. It was named after Daniel Shays, he led the rebellion, his  rebels were called Shaysites.
