In 1931, 400 people were arrested and then deported. American citizens were also collaborating in the mission to deport Mexicans; employers would drive their Mexican employees to the border while government trains offered free train fare. In 1936, Colorado ordered anyone speaking Spanish or were Latin descendants to leave the state.
