America and Great Britain together gave a final consent to the Atlantic charter and the allied countries declared their support for it at the end of World War II.

This charter was not a treaty and it was signed for the common welfare of both the countries and the allied countries which favored it. It defined eight principles which stated that no country must seek territorial expansions; all nations must have equal access to raw materials for economic prosperity.
