The 5 civilized Tribes, (Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Creek, and Seminole), were already civilized, though they didn't accept individual plots as explained. In 1898 the Curtis Act was put into place that amended the Dawes act to affect the 5 Civilized tribes. governments were obliterated, courts destroyed, and then all of their land was sold to white american land owners. Then in the end, the reorganization act was created during the great Depression phasing out the Dawes act, and let Indians back on their land.
