There were various groups of people within American society that began to challenge and criticize the nation’s way of life in the 1960s and this led to civil rights movement.

It should be noted that in the 1960s, numerous changes occurred in the United States. There was the emergence of social movements around civil rights.

There was also opposition to feminism, Vietnam war, environmentalism, Mexican American activism, etc. This was done through numerous protests.
