The Iroquois Culture was constituted in a matrilineal way, where the offspring and attributes came from women. The Clan or the community were made up of families that focused on women. The women of the Iroquois Culture who belonged to a Clan, chose the new Chiefs, and advised the other inhabitants of the community. The Marriage of this culture was very easy to dissolve because both parties separated and the tribe accepted it. Their children received the name from the mother's Clan. The Iroquois Culture not only called their children children, they also said son or daughter to the children of their brothers. They called the children of their sisters nephews.
