Why did socialism never find wide spread support in th u. s. ?

United States mostly valued the idea of strong state power over federal power. The whole American Revolution was a rebellion against strong states. In parallel, socialism was centered around big government, which is why it mostly failed in the U.S.

the president of russia is head of state, and of a multi-party system with executive power exercised by the government, headed by the prime minister, who is appointed by the president with the parliament's approval.
