What is the purpose of the sierra club?

The Sierra club is an environmental organization in the United states. The club was established on May 28,1892 in San Francisco,California. The founder of the Sierra club is John Muir,the Scottish American preservationist and he was the first president of the organization. The club was one of the first environmental organizations in the world. Before establishing the club John Muir successfully campaigned for the creating the large Yosemite National Park and it was successful on 1890. This campaign inspired John Muir to establish the Sierra Club to protect  the environment of Sierra Nevada.

Now the club is working both on national and local level.

The purpose of the Sierra club is now lobbying to the politician for environment favored policy.

The club is also promoting the sustainable energy, decrease the effect of global warming and oppose to the coal energy.

So mainly the purpose of the Sierra Club is to protect environment through lobbying to the politicians for making environment friendly policy and making a public response to the issues.

of course you could argue that we all affect history just as tiny cogs in a   bigger machine.

if you mean how do people influence our opinions of things which have already happened, then simply by writing a book which looks at things form a different perspective and trying to convince people that this perspective is more accurate or truthful. people do it all the time i.e. richard the third was a terrible or was he? plenty would disagree, it's just that their views aren't the most widely known.n:
