The world is much more vulnerable today than 2001 in many ways. One way is air pollution. As the air becomes more polluted, the atmosphere becomes more thinner, providing less protection from UV rays from the Sun. Another thing is bees. They pollinate about one third of the food grown across the globe and almost 100% of wild plants and flowers. Nowadays, the bees are becoming an endangered species as things like pesticides and other harmful chemicals are killing them off. So as the population of humans continues to grow, the amount of good food decreases ever-so slowly. Global warming is becoming another problem as well. As more of the icy regions in the North and South poles melt, the oceans fill up more, slowly closing around the continents of Earth. Of course, we are safe right now, as this is happening slowly. Some of these problems cannot be stopped or are hard to control because they are happening worldwide. It will take great efforts with everyone to try and fix these problems. But most people do not want to fix this. It's not in an intentional way, but yet they still continue. Let's take air pollution for example. Companies continue to drill for oil to provide power for cars and other vehicles. The cars use the fuel, and it comes out of the exhaust as a form of gas. This gas is the stuff that is harming our atmosphere. But why stop doing this when the oil companies and car companies will start to lose money? Everybody wants to have their fair share of bank notes and comforts and food, but isn't there a better option to go for that won't continue to hurt the world?
