Prince Henry the Navigator, a Portuguese prince known for his sponsoring the exploration along the west coast of Africa. He also started the first voyages of exploration in Europe. Because of his patronage, Portuguese sailors were able to find colonies outside Europe and established the first slave trade.

then once you find a topic you like find out how it affected the people of america and what not. (sorry if this feels a bit short changed, history was and never will be one of my strong topics)
