The Cold war was a "Cold War" because it took place without any active violent interactions. The total casualties directly of the war were zero. The cold war was in fact a period from straight after World War II to the end of the 1980s when the Berlin Wall was demolished. It took place between the Capitalist (money, spending based) economical nations of the West and the Communist Soviet Union. Within the war were numerous wars including the Korean war and the Vietnam war in which the US and allied states fought off communism in the name of everything they stood for, despite this, the citizens of the US offered much anger towards the immoral actions of the US in Vietnam.
