1) French and Indian War- This war saw France and their Native American allies (like the Huron and Algonquin) face off against Britain, their North American colonists, and the Iroquois Confederacy. This war was important for control of the North American continent. Ultimately, Britain ended up winning but it did change the way American colonists perceived the British. This is due to the fact that the British parliament and King George III started to implement taxes on the colonists without their consent in order to pay of the debt incurred during this war.

2) The Proclamation of 1763- This proclamation forbid American colonists from travelling west of the Appalachain Mountains. Colonists saw this as unjust, as they wanted to travel west in order to find their own piece of land where they can start their own farms. However, the British did not want colonists traveling past the Appalchain Mountains because much of the territory west of this boundary belonged to Native Americans.

3) The Intolerable Acts- This was a set of laws that were passed as punishments after the Boston Tea Party. This closed down Boston Harbor and forced American colonists to quarter British soldiers at any given time . Many colonists saw this as an abuse of power and increased anti-British sentiment.
