Is the united states a purely market capitalist economy ? why or why not?

The United States has a mixed economy and it is not purely market capitalist economy.

Privately owned businesses and government both play an important role in a mixed economy. A mixed economic system protects private property and allows economic freedom in use of capital, but also allows government to intervene in economic activities.

The American free enterprise system emphasizes private ownership. Private services produce most goods and services and the role of the customer is great.

Some of the country's services are performed by public (governmental) rather than private enterprise. The government is primarily responsible for the administration of justice, education, the road system, social statistical reporting and national defense. Sometimes it intervenes in the country economy, for example with antitrust laws.

In an absolute market economy all property is owned by private individuals as well as all goods and services.
