Who was the first foreign power to penetrate japan?

The first foreign power to penetrate Japan was the United States of America under Commodore Perry. Perry arrived at the Edo bay and in modern Japan it is known by the name of Tokyo Bay. Commodore Perry was born on 10th of April 1794 and died on 4th of March 1858. He commanded a number of American ships. 

The first foreign power to actually invade and penetrate Japan was the United States during World War II - their invasion was a very successful as characterized by the end of the War; considering that the US won and the Japanese government had to say they lost.
