Marches, letter-writing campaigns, and political rallies (like this one for Al Gore) are all methods of participating in government. People may participate in politics in many ways. They can write their Representative or Senator, or work in for a candidate or political party.

1. They can vote.

2. They can become candidates.

3. They can put advertising on their lawns.

4. They can telephone campaign.

5. They can get others to do the same thing.

6. If they are like Sheldon (Big Bang Theory) they can go on campaign dates.

7. They can actively ask the candidates well thought out questions.

8. They can fight long and hard for what they believe in, but in the end they can accept the results if the results were fairly obtained.

the national congress's powers over the states were specific and definite: it had the sole power to negotiate treaties, declare war, and make peace. all powers not granted to congress were reserved for state governments. congress had no power to levy taxes, for example.
