During the drafting of the constitution and the bill of rights, early americans debated how much power states and the federal government should have and what kind of balance would be best to maintain a democratic government. this federalist versus anti-federalist debate continued through the first four us elections. in fact, it's still a subject of debate in the twenty-first century. discuss what you think about this issue today. do you think the federal government has too much power? the wrong kinds of power? is the federal government better at managing some things than states are? are states better at managing some things than the federal government? include examples and reasons for your claims.
