Edmund Jackson Davis (October 2 1827 - February 24, 1883) was an American lawyer, soldier and politician. He served a mandate from 1870 to 1874 as the Governor of Texas.

Although he was not favored by people in Texas, he was remembered for his hard work to revive education. Davis advocated that African Americans be treated equally in education.
