People called mestizo in the caste division in the Latin American colonial era were the mixed between indian people, which were the original population of the American continent, and the Spanish people who came to America from Europe. It was the population that grew faster but it was not as important as the creole in the social pyramid. These last ones were the children of the Spanish people who were born in America soil. They had certain privileges just because who their parents were, for example, they could take part of the public administration. In contrast, the mestizos did not have such privileges but they weren’t slaves neither had to pay taxes as the indian people, they were in the middle in the social pyramid.
