The Chickasaw's 1855 treaty with Choctaw allowed them to create their own independent nation. The leaders of  Chikasaw tribe since 1830s became politically more active and went to Washington to learn the framing of constitution and constitutional setup. The Chikasaw later began to campaign for separation from Choctaw as the later used to control all national offices and government affairs and the relation between the two tribes was never amicable.
