Hypoxia is a process of lowering concentrations of suspended oxygen in bottom waters of a county. Hypoxia can further occur from lung impairment due to trauma. Additional situations can produce hypoxia to carry: Lung diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), emphysema, bronchitis, pneumonia, and pulmonary edema (liquid in the lungs) Acute anxiety medications and other remedies that keep back exhaling.

Dead Zones are the Hypoxic areas which are found in the world oceans and large lakes. This is low on oxygen and are considered as primarily a problem for coastal waters. Waters in this area have dissolved concentrations of oxygen which is less then 2mg per litre. This is caused by many factors. The Hypoxic Zone can be found in Gulf of Mexico which takes place every summer and it takes place because of excess nutrients which come from Mississippi river and seasonal layering of waters in the Gulf of Mexico. This is largest recurring Hypoxic zone in the gulf of Mexico. This happens because Mississippi river which is the drainage area of almost 41% of United States dumps high nutrient such as phosphorus and nitrogen into the gulf of Mexico. Because of this very thing, dead zone threatens lucrative commercial and recreational fisheries which are located in the Gulf of Mexico.The process of ‘Hypoxia’ is the complete set of reactions at work in the example of the gulf of Mexico dead zone.
