Korea was part of Japan since early 20th century. When Japan faced defeat in Second World War, Korea declared itself independent. At Potsdam conference held in 1945 by Allies nation, it was decided to split Korea into two parts to avoid any further conflict. North Korea agreed to ally with Soviet Union under the leadership of Kim II Sung. While South Korea agreed to be democratic under the leadership of Syngman Rhee.

Soon after the partition North Korea started attacking South Korea. It received support from China and Soviet Union. Soviet provided tanks and rifles to North Korea. President Harry Truman cited National Security council a report named NCS-68 to take control over the situation and establish peace in South Korea. Truman appointed General McArthur the Supreme commander of United Force to control the situation. Mc Arthur landed with 10000 marines at Inchon on 15th September 1950 and by the end of the month he was able to recapture Seoul and drive North Korean forces completely away from South Korea.
