Why was the meeting of the first continental congress in 1774 a significant event? it provided the colonists with a temporary form of parliamentary representation. it represented an attempt to unify colonies and colonists against the coercive acts. it showed that parliament had failed to convince the colonists to remain in the british empire. it resulted in the exclusion of shopkeepers, artisans, and farmers from the boycott.
