1) The power of the veto- The legislative branch (aka Congress) has the ability to generate new laws. After passing both the Senate and the House of Representatives, the bill goes to the president to be signed into law. However, the president can veto a law. This means that the president can stop this bill from becoming a law. This shows one way in which the executive branch can check the legislative branch.

2) Supreme Court can deem laws unconstitutional- Any law developed by Congress or any Executive Order created by the president can be determined unconstitutional by the Supreme Court. If any law violates the rights guaranteed to citizens in the Constitution, it can be thrown away by the Supreme Court.

3) Overriding a veto- With a 2/3 majority vote in both the Senate and House of Representatives, Congress can override a veto. This means that a bill can become a law without the presidents signature.
