What is the major function of a political party?

Many people know the 'political party' as the party that would be very persuasive and people who are intelligent. Which, that would be what many people would think though. Common thoughts and thinking.

But, these people would take a very responsible role within the government. This function of the political party would unite people of all sorts, and what they would do it bring them together, in order for the government to have a strong and stable control.

They would have people be persuaded into their kind of thinking, perhaps even wanting them to vote for them depending on the voting status and case.
