The part of cell division that causes the separation of the cytoplasm is mitosis, meiosis, cytokinesis

Mitosis and meiosis are both processes of cell division. In mitosis, the daughter cells have the same number of chromosomes as the parent cell; meanwhile, the chromosome number is halved in meiosis to produce gametes. During both processes, cytokinesis takes place, which is the division of cell cytpolasm into two daughter cells.
