How did henry viii break with the catholic church seem to differ from other groups?

Henry VIII's break from the Catholic Church had more to do with control over the church of England than with changes in doctrine.   The Protestant reformers on the continent, such as Martin Luther and John Calvin, had strong objections to Roman Catholic doctrines and practices.  Henry VIII was staunchly Catholic in his views and practices for the Church of England.  The main issue was having himself as king be in charge of the church, rather than bowing to the authority of the pope.  And the matter of Henry wanting a marriage annulment had something to do with the start of his move away from Rome.  (That too was different from why others broke from Rome.)
