How did the people of east and west berlin react to the wall coming down?

The people of East and West Berlin were excited and happy about the wall coming down. The Berlin Wall had existed for a little less than thirty years before it was torn down. This wall broke up families and cost people their jobs. Individuals from East and West Berlin actually helped in taking the wall down by taking axes to it. From there, they stood on top of the remains of the wall and celebrated the fact that they were reunited with family and friends from the other side of the wall.
