4. one way to manage stress is to reframe the way you think about things. read the following statements and rewrite them so that they focus on the positive instead of the negative.
1. i spent so much time baking this cake for the party, but it collapsed and now it looks terrible. my guests will be here in an hour, so thereā€™s nothing i can do.
2. i canā€™t believe iā€™m waiting in this long line just to buy movie tickets. by the time i get to the front, iā€™m sure the movie will be sold out; i should have just rented a movie at home.
3. i canā€™t stand exercising at the gym. everybody is lifting these heavy weights and running for an hour, and i can barely walk a mile.
4. of course i have a cold again. every time i have a big event coming up i get a cold, and it doesnā€™t go away for a month.
5. my friends got together on the weekend, and they didnā€™t even ask me to go. thatā€™s the third time theyā€™ve done that. itā€™s like theyā€™re embarrassed about me or something.
6. iā€™m a terrible painter; my painting looks nothing like the vase of flowers i was trying to paint. it looks like a big blob of different colors.
7. i always get lost when iā€™m driving. iā€™m already late, i know iā€™m going to get lost, and then iā€™ll be even later.
8. i lost my keys again. it figures. now iā€™m going to have to pay to get another set, and iā€™ll probably lose those a week from now.
9. my mom gave my sister all these clothes for her birthday. on my birthday, she gave me a card with $10ā€”thatā€™s it. sheā€™s always favoring my sister, and she basically gives me nothing.
10. iā€™m not even sure why iā€™m organizing this closet. itā€™s just going to become disorganized again.
11. i just took the dog out for a walk, and now he needs to go out again. iā€™m never going to get anything done today. all i do is take care of this dog.
12. i was just going to go for a run, and now itā€™s raining so iā€™m stuck inside.
13. i havenā€™t gone to the dentist in so long iā€™m terrified to go. iā€™m sure all my teeth have cavities, and heā€™s going to have to fill them, and itā€™s going to hurt.
