Explain the causes and symptoms of sickle cell anemia.

Sickle cell disease is caused by a genetic abnormality in the gene for hemoglobin, which results in the production of sickle hemoglobin.It sticks together and forms long rods, which damage and change the shape of the red blood cell.

Some of the symptoms are ; Painful swelling of the hands and feet,Fatigue from anemia,A yellowish color of the skin, and whites of the eyes

Nail fungus, which can cause the nails to crack, peel and change color and texture.
