Mary, a 50-year-old woman, took over the counter aspirin and NSAIDs in large doses to control pain associated with her non-aggressive rheumatoid arthritis. She developed perforations in her upper GI tract that required most of the body and antrum of the stomach, the pylorus and pyloric sphincter along with the duodenum to be removed. Her general surgeon then attached the remaining portion of her stomach directly to her jejunum so that some function of the GI tract could be maintained. Based on your knowledge of the GI peptides listed above, describe what effects these surgeries have on regulation of GI motility.
