Oregon's governor said On Friday that she would send as many as 1,500 National Guard troops to hospitals across the state to assist health care workers who have been overwhelmed by a surge in cases caused by the Delta variant. Democratic Governor Kate Brown said the first 500 members of the guard would be deployed next Friday to move supplies and equipment and help with testing, among other things, at the hardest-hit hospitals. Troops will be sent to 20 hospitals around Oregon.
