Although some risk factors for cancer are beyond a person’s control, there are a great many factors that a person does have some control over. People make choices every day about what to eat and drink and whether to exercise or “veg out” in front of a computer screen. So why don’t people do more to prevent cancer? What do you think?

Why don’t more people take better care of their health? Do they not know what to do? Do they know and not care? What would persuade more people to take steps to prevent cancer? How could cancer-prevention education be improved?

Take a few minutes to think about the lifestyle choices that you and the people you know make every day and how those choices relate to minimizing cancer risk. Then go to the next discussion assignment in this course and post your answer to the questions above. Be sure to provide reasons and examples to support your answer.
