The test is known as chronic villius sampling.

Chronic villius sampling is carried out to determine whether the developing baby has any genetic abnormalities such as Down's syndrome and many others. Usually, chronic villius sampling is carried out in women that are likely to have children with genetic disorders. The test helps the parents and doctors get a better understanding of the complications that may occur with the child, and the necessary steps that will have to be taken to bring up a child with the diagnosed disorder.
