I believe it would be either an laceration or an avulsion. But more or less an laceration but if you want to decide for yourself an laceration is a deep cut of tearing of the skin. But typically is made with a knife, metal, or tool. An avulsion is partial or complete tearing of the skin and tissue underneath. I believe it would be an avulsion due to the fact it states it sliced his lateral aspect up to his knee.
