One example of loss would be the loss of a loved one. It would be the passing on of someone or a pet in your life that you had great affection for. This is very common to almost everyone, we all experience death in our family or with friends or pets at some point in our lives unfortunately.

Another example would be the loss of a friendship. You can still grieve for people even though they are still alive, this would be because they are no longer a part of your life for whatever reason.
