Why are pandemic preparation important?

Pandemic preparation is important so that we are prepared for it to happen. Although this wouldn't prevent a pandemic, it could decrease the infections and deaths.

For example, take car insurance. Although car insurance doesn't prevent you getting into a car accident, it helps in the long run. Many people don't get car insurance because they don't believe they will get into a car accident. But, if the end up in a car accident without car insurance, or preparation, there's more damage and changing results than if they did get insurance. This is the same way with pandemic preparation.

If there's a plan pre-pandemic, it can actually save many, many lives. The chances of pandemics are very low, but if there isn't pandemic preparation, the results can be deadly and devastating.
