This action does not provide any stimuli for the child or it does not encourage parent-child interaction. There is also the lack of sensory development since there are no other means of learning coming to the child.

Generally,  based on nature and nurture debate, a child development  depends on the interaction between biological(brain) and  societal or environmental  stimuli acquired. Thus external  stimuli acquired from interaction with  the parents and the society are important to provide sensory inputs  to complement biological development and growth  in a child.

Therefore a child who is deprived of these sensory input s from lack of good parent-child interactions, with no mutual practices with the parents or the society will be impaired with needed stimuli for normal childhood growth and healthy developments.

Television does not provide stimuli for brain's  growth, because it is not interactive, rather,  it stimulates the pleasure area of the brain, which is not important for cognitive and behavioural development  for  growing child
