The change model consists of majorly five stages that people go through in making positive behavioral changes in their lives. Certain processes of change occur within each stage, which result in an individual moving to the next stage.

The Contemplation stage is the second stage after the Precontemplation stage. The contemplation stage is where an individual becomes aware of an existing problem and is considering taking specific actions, but are reluctant to making a deliberate effort to bring about a positive behavioral change. For example, a diabetic patient who has become aware of his condition might find it difficult  take deliberate actions to embrace lifestyles that would ameliorate the problem of diabetics.
