Should people avoid using nonverbal communication?

It depends on the situation. If you are fighting with someone, you should avoid using it and give straight forward answers so there is no confusion. It can be useful in situations that deal with someone lying about how they really feel, say they say they are fine but their body language shows they are clearly  uncomfortable.
