What is respiration?

Respiration is an action of breathing. If you don't breath you will loose oxygen, and therefore, you will suffocate.

Now, the normal respiration rate for an adult is about 12 to 20 breathes per minute. Of course that's when you're resting or not doing any exercise.

Having lower than that or higher while at resting is not normal.
